Migrant Support Specialist
Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation is a faith- based organization led by talented and courageous clergy and lay leaders from congregations and other community groups. We are striving to create a network that supports and empowers the immigrant community in the greater Kansas City area. The network provides tools and resources for people to be able to navigate their lives with confidence and pride. No person should live in fear of being torn apart from their family or home.
AIRR seeks a full-time staff member who will bring skills and passion in project and case management; volunteer management; and team coordination. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to, management of a key project within the organization’s ongoing programs, including but not limited to: Accompaniment, Rapid Response, and others. The Migrant Support Coordinator will work under the direction of the Executive Director and will collaborate closely with other staff. A successful candidate should have a commitment to the mission and vision of AIRR.
Location: This position is based in Kansas City and candidates must be based in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Programming
- Major responsibility for setting up and carrying out efforts to accompany individuals and families seeking asylum. This position will act as the point person for day-to-day communications and coordinations on this project, working with many people in removal proceedings, volunteers, and partner agencies. Maintenance of this program includes communicating with clients throughout the duration of their case; coordinating support for biometrics, ICE, and/or court appointments; and tracking and managing case specifics such as next court hearings, biometrics appointments, and more.
- Lead the accompaniment and rapid response program.
- Major responsibility for setting up and carrying out efforts to accompany individuals and families seeking asylum. Organizing
- Volunteer management.
- This position will act as the logistics coordinator.
- Work to expand and organize the AIRR core team to abolish the underlying programs and injustices requiring these responsive initiatives at AIRR.
Fundraising & Administrative
- Support AIRR’s annual fundraising initiatives.
- Support grant writing, communications, and regular reporting through providing written reports and updates on program status, progress and initiatives.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and other administrative meetings as necessary.
- Support daily office operations.
Other
- Lead and/or assist with research and analysis needs as appropriate.
- Support content creation for AIRR and communications with our base as well as broader public.
- Other duties as assigned.
Compensation:
- Starting Max Salary: $45,000
